About GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation

GDPR ensuring data protection for an average data users online |
With May 25th being the enforcement date of Europe’s
General Data Protection Regulation, otherwise known as GDPR, we are likely to
see a massive change between the companies depending on the data and the
individuals the data used to be collected from.
It seems a real shriek for the big data companies from
Google to Microsoft and many. Despite their huge declination toward this new
regulation, they are supposedly bound to roll out new policies, updating their
terms and reestablishing new agreement so that they can comply with the new
legal landscape. At the same time, it appears to be a new challenge for the legal
entities as well. Amidst everything, the average web users like us are going to
have a different web experience with the implementation of this new policy.
GDPR- What It Means For Us?
The General Data Protection Regulation is legislation, governed
by the European Union. The entity supervises the steps of the companies sharing
and collecting data from web users online, especially in the European Nations. However,
it does not mean non-EU nations have all the liberty to use personal data of
users at their will.
The law this time is more stringent than earlier, we had
experienced a few years ago. By default, any time a company forays into collecting
information about a person within an EU realm, it tends to ask for explicit and
informed consent from that person. Users on the other hand need to follow the several
verification processes online. Let’s not forget about how the advertisements will
be regulated online under this new rule too.
Violating the sets of rules of GDPR confines one of 4
percent of the total global revenues of the accused companies.
Data That GDPR Protects
It includes everything from your name, the government ID, IP
addresses, your activity online, your location, and also cookies.
Now, we can stay secured as our data is safe and no longer
will be sneaked by social media biggies like Facebook and Google as they did
earlier. We can hope to enjoy our social media sessions with much freedom and easiness
without any fear of being bugged.
